“Go” (especially when accompanied by a strong voicing, a verbal or scriptural punctuation of exclamation or exasperation: Go! Just go…) tends to direct away from the speaker. I mean the opposite. By go, I mean come, and come back again. I’ll make an effort to post an Exploded View Diagram weekly. (Sometimes I will be grading, or writing lectures, or working on my book, or discharging other administrative duties and I won’t manage that pace; other times I may post more than weekly.)

After this introduction, most of the places I will ask you to go via these EVD essays will be related to my work (and thoughts thereon) as a historian and writer. We will go slowly.

Go is also a game, and this experiment in form is meant to be playful.
