Those expectations include mutual respect, openness, a sincere effort to understand and appreciate each other’s goals and viewpoint and work and contributions, and a path to conversation that proceeds from that ground. If you contact me and make an effort to engage me in that spirit, I will make an effort to engage you in that spirit. We will try together.

Here is a relationship, a connection. It is not a geographical space, but a space conceived as a set of points that promise potential connections and relationships. (I want to talk with you about Whitehead, and process philosophy, and its possibilities for inflecting or shaping historical practice. We’ll come to that in time.)
