workshop

What is the point of doing this if not to take conceptual and intellectual risks, to experiment with new work, to be open-minded, to leave fear and agonism at the door? If we cannot treat a workshop as a safe space for open and risk-free critical dialogue, where can we find those spaces? Does the space of a workshopping experience not extend beyond the bounds of the rooms and days of in-person, bodily discussion? And if it does extend in that way, is a circulation of in-progress ideas not exactly the point, not necessary for growth?
