Metagestures news, and assorted updates!

Happy summer, y’all! It’s been year of transitions, and I haven’t been here much while I took a hiatus from podcasting, finished up some other things, and did some re-orienting. It’s good to be back.

I’m about to move to a brand new position as Andrew W. Mellon Chair in History at the University of Pittsburgh, and I’m really thrilled to be joining such a vibrant community of people and helping to make some very cool, inter-/trans-/a-disciplinary humanities magic happen. Stay tuned! Fabulousness ahoy!

In the meantime, Dominic Pettman and I are thrilled to share the news that our Metagestures collection will be coming out with Punctum Books in the next year. (We really love the stories in the book. They make us so happy, and we are genuinely excited to spread the joy and share them with y’all.) We did some little readings from the project at this very cool recent conference at CUNY, and we’ll have a proper launch or two once the book is out. Yay! We also have a very groovy new project in the works, and I’ll tell you about that in a bit… And Carrie Jenkins and I held a workshop on the manuscript of our Symposium Reimagined project, which was wonderful, thanks to the brilliant and generous folks who spent the day with us. We’ve just completed a full first draft of the book and we’ll share news when we have it. The first poems should be out this summer…

I’ll be in Pittsburgh on sabbatical for the 2018-2019 year, focusing mostly on a new project on DJ’ing/translation/history, and on turning The Elizabeths into a little book, but there will be lots and lots of other shenanigans to report and I’ll be back on the site regularly. Thanks for checking in, and welcome to the Center for Historical Pataphysics!

Xoxo Carla
